Lanolin based timber treatment / weatherproofing for rough sawn timber.

All new (green) timber structures should be allowed to settle for a minimum of 3 months before applying any coating system. If treated
before this, there is a risk of resins and tannins rising to the surface, causing black spots.
If the timber is freshly milled or “green”, only apply inside joints and on bolts and fastenings.
Allow timber to weather further before applying Timber Seal PLUS.
Previously untreated timber should be treated against mould and/or fungus spores (use any broad-spectrum agent) before applying Timber Seal.
High levels of tannin and oily resins or high moisture content in the timber will affect the penetration rate of Timber Seal, which can lead to
a poor finish of the coated surface. It is important that the timber is clean and dry before applying Timber Seal PLUS.
Can be used on timber previously coated with decking oil. Timber must be showing signs of dryness before applying Timber Seal PLUS.
If the timber has turned grey due to weathering, and restoration is desired, sand surface lightly and clean thoroughly before applying Timber
Seal Plus. To restore colour without sanding, see product data sheet regarding using tint.
The moisture content of the timber will also affect the rate of absorption, which can lead to a patchy colouring of the timber. High levels
of tannin and oil resins can also lead to this effect. Therefore, it is important that the timber is as clean and dry as reasonably possible before applying Timber Seal PLUS.

Shake container to ensure product is mixed correctly. Colder climates will require extra agitation.
Refer to coverage guide. Measure area of timber to be protected. Only use the recommended volume of product. Overapplication will cause tackiness on the surface of the timber.
All timbers are different and display differing rates of absorption, i.e. hardwoods are less absorbent than softwood such as pine. This should be taken into consideration when determining coverage rate.
For the best results, Timber Seal PLUS should be applied to clean, dry surfaces by a garden-type sprayer or roller. If timber is smooth enough, a lambs wool pad can be used to ensure even coverage and help prevent over-application.
6 hours drying time is recommended.
Lanotec Timber Seal PLUS is compatible with most oil-based tints; if the timber is dry, it will accept a tint mixed into the Timber Seal at a rate of 2.5% (25ml per 1L). However, it is advisable to conduct a penetration test with an off-cut or in an inconspicuous area first.

Spray Lanotec Timber Seal PLUS on bearers, joists, end grains, checkouts, drill holes, etc before assembly.
For base plates, large bearers (e.g. Wharves and timber bridges), bollard capping, threaded rods and bolts, use Lanotec Type A Grease.
Timber Seal PLUS and Lanotec Type A Grease can be easily combined to produce a slurry that overcomes application problems in cold weather.
Use Lanotec Type A Grease on screws to lubricate them and allow easier installation. Type A Grease will also protect screws and wood from corrosion internally.

Apply one coat of Timber Seal PLUS using a direct spray method to minimise overspray, or a lambs wool roller. Allow six hours before walking on the structure.
