Megapoxy CT5
A two component compound for backfilling and encapsulating inductive detector loops, weigh in motion sensors, and Aircraft Landing Lights on asphaltic and concrete roadways.
Description
Megapoxy CT5 is an Australian manufactured compound for backfilling and encapsulating
inductive detector loops, weigh in motion sensors, and Aircraft Landing Lights on asphaltic
and concrete roadways. Megapoxy CT5 is a cold pour and applied liquid that sets rapidly
in all weather conditions minimising road and or lane closure. The non brittle, quick cure
properties of Megapoxy CT5 make it ideal for long term encapsulation. The addition of sand
and aggregates can be used for high build and bulk applications as outlined on pages 2.
Megapoxy CT5 is black with a simple mix ratio of 1: 1 by volume. In each kit, Part “A” and Part
“B” are measured in the correct mixing ratio for immediate use. Megapoxy CT can be stored for
long periods and is readily available Australia wide.
Advantages
- Australian Made
- Simple 1 : 1 mix ratio
- Mixes and blends easily
- Rapid setting
- Adheres and cures under adverse conditions (cold and damp)
Method of Use
1. Measure out 1 volume of Part “A” and 1 volume of Part “B” of Megapoxy CT5.
Place into a clean mixing vessel, such as a plastic bucket and stir thoroughly
for at least 3 minutes or until uniform consistency is achieved. Ensure that the
sides and bottom of the mixing vessel have been scraped and that no unmixed
material remains in these areas.
2. Megapoxy CT5 should be mixed thoroughly; the use of a mechanical mixer can be
used, however, it is important to keep splashing and air entrapment to a minimum.
Once mixed, Megapoxy should be completely uniform and homogeneous with no
streaks.
3. Inaccuracies and poor mixing will result in lower physical properties of the cured
system and, if the error is sufficiently large, the system may not cure satisfactorily
and discolour on ageing.
4. It is essential that the correct mixing ratio be used and that the Part “A” and Part
“B” are thoroughly mixed together before adding fine and dry epoxy quality sand.
The purpose of adding fine aggregate (blue stone) and dry epoxy quality sand, is to
make the Megapoxy CT5 flow less. If sand is to be used, add gradually while mixing
and mix until uniform and homogenous.
Note that 1 litre of Mixed resin and 1 litre of sand do not equal 2 litres. Air voids in
the sand totals approximately 40%, so the increment is not double.
